Job summary
Applications are invited for Transgender Healthcare Consultants (Psychiatrist), on a full-time or part-time basis, working in the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health (NCTH). These are replacements posts, due to colleagues reducing hours and leaving the Trust.
Applicants must be eligible for registration on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register in general psychiatry, intellectual disability psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry or forensic psychiatry. Possession of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or to be within 6 months of attaining it is a requirement.
Main duties of the job
The successful post-holder will be expected, with suitable training, to work as a 'Lead Clinician' in transgender healthcare, and undertake transgender healthcare assessments, recommendations for gender affirming medical treatments, recommendations for gender affirming surgical treatments, manage a caseload, and liaise with primary care for the delivery of these treatments and also other services as required. NCTH will provide the entirety of this training while in post with the support (if required) of the Gender Identity Healthcare course.
The post holder will have a significant exciting opportunity to provide leadership to forge and form better working with primary care in the delivery of transgender healthcare across the nation.
It is expected that the post holder will develop or continue to develop specialist knowledge in transgender healthcare and attend (if required) the Royal College of Physicians and University of London Gender Identity Healthcare course. This course will be funded through this employment.

- To participate in annual appraisal for senior medics.
- To attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust and NCTHnet, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
- To participate annually in a job plan review with the Clinical Director to ensure that the post is developed to consider changes in service configuration and delivery.
- To work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services and share with consultant colleagues in the medical contribution to management.
- To comply with the Trusts agreed policies, procedures, standing orders and financial instructions, and to take an active role in the financial management of the service and support the medical director and other managers in preparing plans for services.
- To comply with the Trusts Duty of Candour.
