The Mental Health division of Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust comprises of three directorates; Adult Mental Health, Mental Health Services for Older People and Specialist Services. Main duties of the job

The Integrated Specialist Services provides specialist NHS services to people for whom mainstream services cannot meet their demands. We are seeking a Staff Nurse to join our Inpatient Assessment & Treatment Team with IDD.

The Orion Unit is an 8 bedded inpatient service for adults with an intellectual disability and complex mental health needs and / or challenging behaviours whose needs are unable to be met within the community at any given time. We offer specialist assessment and treatmenttailored to the individual, the team works flexibly, utilising a broad range of models and interventions, within a Multi-Disciplinary Team. The Unit supports people in times of crisis, difficulty, and distress; effectively collaborating between professionals, the person, family/carers and networks that support them. We work closely with our community colleagues in health and social care.

An opportunity has arisen for a IDD Staff Nurse to work within the Inpatient Assessment & Treatment Team, based at the Orion Unit at Highbury Hospital Bulwell Nottingham

Patients accessing the service have complex and diverse needs; you will provide knowledge of multi-disciplinary/multi professional working, risk management and associated mental health care needs, to the team. You will be required to maintain records and documentation in line with Trust Policies and NMC Regulations and lead within a named nurse group; providing support to carers and families of individuals who access our services.

You will assist the unit manager and deputy team leaders in leading the team to ensure a high-quality assessment, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of patients needs and monitor the quality and effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.

The post holder must have experience working with patients with an intellectual disability and must be able to demonstrate awareness of current issues and legislation affecting people with intellectual disabilities in relation to detained and non-detained patients.

As part of the Orion Unit Team, you will be supported to deliver the most up to date clinical practice, you will receive active clinical and managerial supervision. You will provide clinical supervision / appraisals to named team members. We will support your ongoing career development extensive training and support and offer a comprehensive preceptorship programme if required.

You will be required to work a rational 24hr shift pattern, including days, nights, and weekends.

You will be required to have RNLD or RMN and relevant experience with working with people with and ID.

ELT have recently approved for the current golden hello offer of £2,750 (spread out as below) to be widened out to LD Inpatient Services (band 5 and band 6 Nurses).

  • After 3 months completed service, £750.00 is payable subject to the normal deductions
  • After 1 year completed service, £1000.00 is payable subject to the normal deductions
  • After 2 years completed service, £1000.00 is payable subject to the normal deductions.
