Job summary

This exciting post spans across both the memory assessment services - MAS (half time) and the Therapeutic intervention service - TIS (half time).

This MHSOP post will support the diagnosis of older adults with dementia in the multi disciplinary MAS services and support therapeutic group work for adults of all ages with a new diagnosis of Dementia and/or mental health difficulties in those aged 65 plus in the multi disciplinary TIS service.

This post is available as one full time post or 2 x half time posts.

Main duties of the job

To provide a clinical psychology service to two designated parts of the Mental health Services for Older People (TIS) & (MAS); to collaborate with the other members of those services in the planning , organisation and development of that service

Undertaking of audit within clinical psychology and also the integrated team.

Supervision and execution of ethics committee approved research studies.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  1. Provision of psychological services to patients and their relatives and carers (where appropriate).
  2. Undertaking of audit within clinical psychology and also the integrated team.

Qualifications & Training

  • Qualification in Clinical Psychology with eligibility for British Psychological Society Chartership
  • Evidence of an ability to design and complete doctoral level research

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in a specific therapeutic model or clinical area such as neuropsychology
  • Evidence of publication
  • Further training in specialist area of psychology

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with Older Adults
  • Experience of completing neuropsychological assessments
  • Evidence of working with a range of mental health problems including severe, complex and chronic psychological problems
  • Evidence of an ability to draw on ra range of psychological therapy and theoretical approaches to inform assessment and therapy
  • Evidence of an ability to work with and liaise with other health professionals and agencies.
  • Evidence of the ability to provide consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
  • Ability to monitor and audit services.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Skills in providing clinical supervision.
