Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join the team for a fixed period to cover Maternity leave.

We are a new service within Mental health Services for older people. Our remit is to deliver therapeutic group work to individuals experiencing mental health problems or are newly diagnosed with Dementia.

The Therapeutic intervention service (TIS) was launched in April 2022 and is still in its infancy. Some groups are wrote and ready to be delivered and some are still to be created.

This exciting role will take the lead in creating these groups utilising the expertise of the wider MDT alongside the other team Clinical Psychologist.

Main duties of the job

You will be integral to the creating of the groups, assessing referrals for appropriateness, supporting assistant Psychologists, delivering groups as required, supervision and training of staff and other tasks as required within this multi disciplinary team.

  • Qualification in Clinical Psychology with eligibility for British Psychological Society Chartership.
  • Evidence of an ability to design and complete doctoral level research

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in a specific therapeutic model or clinical area such as neuropsychology.
  • Evidence of publication.

Training

Desirable

  • Further training in specialist area of psychology

  • Experience of working with Older Adults
  • Evidence of working with a range of mental health problems including severe, complex and chronic psychological problems.
  • Evidence of an ability to draw on a range of psychological therapy and theoretical approaches to inform assessment and therapy.

  • Post qualification experience of working in older adult services.
