Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader for the phlebotomy service in Nottingham West. This is a new role and the post holder will be required to provide a lead role with the responsibility for the day-to- day management of staff and the coordination of an efficient and effective service.
The service provides phlebotomy cover for GP practices across Nottingham West - both within clinics and patients own homes and the post holder will also be required to to confident an competent in the collection of venous blood samples.
You will require a full driving licence and the use of a car as you will be required to travel across the locality for both clinics and home visits.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for looking for someone who is dynamic, flexible and enthusiastic to lead, manage and coordinate the phlebotomy service. You will have previous experience of leading and managing a team and be able to demonstrate your ability to manage and coordinate the service to ensure its smooth running. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
You will be confident and confident in all aspects of venepuncture and be able to cover all aspects of the clinical element of the role. There is an expectation that 50% of the time you will be clinical and be able to support staff with competency documents to assess that practice is safe and up to date.
You will be responsible for coordination of the staff rota, approving annual leave, managing sickness and absence and ensuring training is completed. You will ensure that the team have access to clinical supervision and ensure all staff are supported.
There will be a requirement to have regular liaison with GP practice staff relating to the clinics and provision of visits . You will need to be confident in the use of IT including system one and ICE and will be responsible for the accurate collection of data for reporting.
You will be responsible to respond to any clinical concerns or complaints that are raised. Working closely with the locality lead to report any concerns or issues within the service and provide suggestions on ways in which improvements can be made.
