Mental Health Services for Older People in Newark & Sherwood are offering an exciting opportunity for a new or developing band 5 to work alongside their Community Mental Health Team to upskill and become a Band 6 OT in the Intensive Home Treatment Team (IHTT).
IHTT work with people with a diagnosis of dementia or people aged 65+ with a mental health need, utilising their specialist skills and knowledge of mental and physical health to maximise outcomes for the person. IHTT recognises the importance of people recovering in their own home so work to prevent unnecessary admissions into hospital and residential care settings, and to facilitate a timely return home following an inpatient stay. IHTT is a shared role with community psychiatric nurses and interdisciplinary working is integral to the role.
The teams provide an urgent response to referrals within 24-48 hours and can support people in the community for up to 8 weeks. The teams work across 7 days a week, therefore an ability to cover shifts and work weekends is necessary for the role.
Main duties of the job
You will work in a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive assessment and interventions which promotes recovery enabling patients to remain at home and supporting their positive mental and physical wellbeing. The CMHT OT service works five days a week to provide OT specific assessments and interventions in patient's homes. IHTT works more intensively with patients for up to 8 week period preventing discharge and supporting discharge.
The successful applicant would be given structured time to learn and develop as a member of the CMHT as a Band 5 then progress to Band 6 level and become a member of IHTT.
This post is eligible for a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 for new starters who are external to the Trust. This is payable in 3 instalments over a 2 year period. This payment is only eligible to new starters who do not already hold a contract of employment with the Trust. This post also includes paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during night, weekends and bank holidays.
