This is an exciting opportunity to join the Step 4 Psychotherapy Service based at St Ann's House in Nottingham. This is a post for a Consultant Medical Psychotherapist with a major in either CBT or psychodynamic.
In Nottingham the Step 4 Psychotherapy Service consists of clinical teams offering different modalities of therapy. The Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Team will link into the non-psychosis pathway and work witha variety of disorders and comorbidities including childhood trauma and attachment difficulties, the CBP team will also be within this pathway, and they work primarily with anxiety disorder, the specialist depression service will come under the mood disorder pathway and work with treatment resistant depression. There is also an MBCT team, which is a mindfulness service offering input to support staff in Notts HC and beyond. Alongside these teams, the city clinical psychology team is also based at St Ann's House, with whom we have a close working relationship.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based at St Ann's House, Nottingham & provide face-to-face assessments & psychodynamic psychotherapy or CBT depending on the expertise of the post holder. This is a 10 PA post (2.5 SPA / 7.5 DCC).
Alongside Dr Phillips the post holder will support the expansion of the clinical consultation facility in relation to complex patients.
Depending on areas of interest the post holder may be involved in reflective practice & other indirect psychoanalytic/CBT/other psychological work to support & develop teams across the care pathways. This may include providing Balint groups & complex case discussions.
The post holder will offer psychotherapy supervision to higher & core trainees and be involved in the provision of Balint groups for medical staff.
The post holder will be accessible to give advice to the weekly referral meeting undertaken by non-medical psychotherapists.
The post holder will be an active and supportive member of the MDT & participate fully in team business.
About us
In Nottingham there are 4.1 WTE (non-medical) staff working within the psychodynamic team with a variety of healthcare backgrounds & training. There are 1.65 WTE CBT therapists working in the anxiety & OCD pathway & 3.65 WTE in the mindfulness pathway. In the specialist depression service, there are 1.9 WTE CBT therapists.
In the North there are 2.8 WTE psychodynamic therapists & 2.2 WTE CBT therapists.
The post holder will work alongside Dr Nicky Phillips, Consultant Medical Psychotherapist (10.25 PA plus 0.5 PA TPD role) in Nottingham. There will also be a close working relationship with Dr Helena Vassiliadis, Consultant Psychodynamic Medical Psychotherapist (5.0 PA) who is based in the North.
The Team Leader & Step 4 Psychotherapy Manager is Tom O'Reilly.
There is dedicated secretarial support for this post & 5.2 WTE secretaries at the unit.
All the teams based at St Ann's House have close working relationships.
