Job summary
You will work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary SPA Team, offering referral screening, triage, and brief evidence-based interventions through psychoeducation, harm reduction advice and containment to children, young people, their family/carers, and other professionals.
You will be experienced in identifying emotional and mental health presentations and in the formulation and be able to delivery appropriate evidence based brief advice over the telephone, as well as identifying and responding to any safeguarding concerns.
You will work with a variety of agencies including social care, other health agencies, education/schools, acute hospitals, and adult mental health services to ensure a quality service is provided and support partnership working through offering children, young people and family's choice and flexibility in the service that they receive and promote the safety and welfare of service-users and their family.
You will enhance access to mental health service provision for CYP if clinically indicated to allow timely assessment, formulation, and evidence-based intervention within a multi-agency framework, whilst using the THRIVE framework to influence clinical decision making.
Maintain a professional attitude so to be a representative of the wider CAMHS service and be an inclusive team member.
Main duties of the job
Working autonomously as part of a busy team and be responsible for screening, triaging referrals and making clinical decisions around outcome of referrals. You will provide brief evidence-based intervention through psychoeducation, provide harm minimisation advice and containment to CYP, their family/carers, and other professionals.
Be responsible for networking and liaising with partner agencies & where required make safeguarding referrals. Participating in audits & the on-going service development.
Be a point of contact in the single point of access team; responding to calls that come into the team and returning calls as required.
Evaluate and make decisions on suitability of referrals, adhering to the services protocols and procedures, provide signposting advice and guidance around alternative service which would be best placed to meet the presenting needs at the current time.
Have excellent communication skills and be able to respond sensitively to difficulties and needs of the CYP, families and professionals.
Participate in multidisciplinary and team meetings, take part in service development, as well as work closely with other CAMHS teams.
