Job summary

We are pleased to offer a variety of band 7 roles within our wider Speech & Language Therapy Service.. We welcome applicants who are interested in applying for mixed or individual roles. There may be opportunities for the ICATT 2 year fixed term contract to be made permanent in the future.

No 1: Alexander House: 15 hours/ week - permanent.

No 2: Community Intensive Assessment and Treatment Teams (ICATT): 15 hours/ week - 2 years fixed term contract.

No 3: Liaison & Diversion - 22.5hrs/ week- 12 month maternity leave.

The successful candidate will join the well-established and respected Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Service in Intellectual and Developmental Disability Services within Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust.

You will be well supported by senior colleagues, with many opportunities for peer support. The role involves close work with colleagues from a range of disciplines and the post is supported by an assistant SLT.

You will enjoy close links with our team and our SLT colleagues within the East Midlands, and benefit from excellent levels of support, supervision, IT and CPD opportunities.

Main duties of the job

All three services support adults with intellectual disabilities and a range of neurodevelopmental conditions to live well with mental health needs.

At Alexander House, the overall purpose is to support the inpatient population back to living well in the community having undertaken bespoke therapy to reduce their risks and increase their ability to succeed in community settings.

The ICATT teams' overall purpose is to support the individual and their carers to maintain positive relationships to avoid placement breakdown and admission to hospital.

The purpose of L&D is to provide support for vulnerable service users who are going through the Criminal Justice system. This includes Nottingham and Mansfield custody suites and Nottingham Crown and Magistrates courts.

Across all settings you will be supporting these aims with your specialist communication knowledge and your understanding of the individual's needs based on the assessments and observation you will be undertaking.

You may also support assessment and management of eating and drinking difficulties/ dysphagia.

All of the services are multidisciplinary teams and you will be instrumental in the holistic formulation of the individual's needs and care plans through functional and environmental communication perspective to the discussion (using the 5 Good Communication Standards as one of the principles of inclusive communication).

  • Masters degree or postgraduate experience and training to an equivalent level

  • Completion of adapted DBT-based training
