An exciting opportunity has arisen for a mental health nurse to work in the Newark & Sherwood Community Mental Health Team based at Byron House, Newark Hospital.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Band 5 registered mental health nurse to provide a specialist service for older people with mental health problems and their carers. This posts will require an experienced band 5 RMN to work across the MHSOP directorate community services and will be expected to achieve a set of competencies over a period of 18 month progressing to a substantive Band 6 CPN. The successful candidate will spend time working across the Community Mental Health Team and the Intensive Home Treatment teams located in Bassetlaw, Newark & Sherwood and Mansfield & Ashfield.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work alongside other members of the MDT to deliver a comprehensive person focused service. You will work under the supervision of a Band 6 CPN and be responsible for the management of a defined caseload, to act as care co-ordinator and provide specialist mental health assessment, risk assessments and care planning for individuals with mental health conditions living in the community/residential care.
The successful applicant will need experience of working with older people with a dementia diagnosis and/or mental health conditions and previous experience of working in a community setting would be desirable. We also require excellent communication, organizational & time management skills; the ability to motivate yourself & others and the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
You must be prepared to travel around the North Nottinghamshire County and provide cover in various work areas as needed.
Essential Criteria :
- 1st level Mental Health Nurse (RMN; Diploma in Mental Health Nursing; BSc in Mental Health Nursing)
- Current NMC registration
- Applicants must display a positive attitude to working with the older adult population and be committed to caring for older adults in their own home or alternative community setting.
