Job summary

The practitioner will have responsibility to undertake safe and effective triage assessments of individuals who come into contact with the Police service, and who may be suspected of suffering mental health difficulties.

Onward referral and signposting to appropriate services is identified byindividual need and requires a broad knowledge of the help available from primary care, secondary mental health care, third sector organisations and online and telephone support.

  • Evidence of higher and continuing education
  • Mandatory training up to date

  • Knowledge of: Policies and Procedures - S136 - Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act Legislation - CPA - Working Collaboratively within a team and with patients and carers - Developments in mental health - Safeguarding - Equality and Diversity - Assessing risk and crisis situations - Suicidal Crisis risk assessment
  • Evidence of: Leadership and management - Co-ordination skills - Clinical Supervsion - Ability to demonstrate transferable skills - Mentoring, supervising others
