Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Energy and Environment Department as Energy Manager and work in a forward-thinking Directorate. You will report to the Senior Energy and Environmental Manager operating in a role that offers very diverse requirements across a varied property portfolio. You will support the delivery of the NHS' Net Zero ambitions and the provision of sustainable healthcare as detailed in our Green Plan.

The role is Trust-wide and plays a key role in developing Trust-wide initiatives by ensuring compliance with legislation, meeting national targets and encouraging and promoting organisation-wide participation and awareness in energy and environmental initiatives.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will develop, implement and manage systems for the efficient use of energy and the management of wider environmental initiatives to ensure the Trust receives best value for money whilst maintaining high environmental standards.

You will work across the Trust with the Estates & Facilities Operational Teams, Clinical Directorates, other internal stakeholders and external organisations to ensure compliance with legislation, codes of practice and guidance.

In this role you will assist in the implementation and maintenance of policies and strategies that will achieve national, local and Trust-wide environmental targets. You will also support the delivery of the Trust's Green Plan where Net Zero targets are embedded.

The role requires and experienced, qualified, environmental, energy and/or sustainability professional with excellent numerical and analytical skills to maintain and develop energy management and targeting systems to ensure reductions in building energy use and carbon emission.

Assist the Trust and partners to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice and Trust procedures and to provide technical expertise relating to energy management.
