We have opportunities for a registered mental health staff nurse (RMN) to join our compassionate and recovery focused team caring for the older people on our ward at Highbury Hospital.
Amber Ward is a 15 Bed Dementia Ward for Older People.
These posts are subject to National NHS T&Cs, paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during nights, weekends and bank holidays and we offer a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 to new starters with the Trust in this role (payable in instalments over a 2 year period)
Main duties of the job
Mental Health Services for Older People is a major provider of specialist mental health services for older people in Nottingham City and the wider county. The service caters to the needs of all people suffering from dementia, regardless of age and those presenting with severe mental health illnesses. Services are provided in an in-patient andcommunity basis and comprise of:
- In-patient services-
- Intensive Home Treatment Team
- Rapid Response Liaison Psychiatry
- Community Mental Health Teams
- Memory Assessment Services
- Working Age Dementia Service
- Dementia Outreach Services
- Psychological Therapies

The role will be incredibly rewarding, supporting many of our patients in returning home to their lives in the community, or into a Care Home environment. A great ending to the therapeutic relationship which we have built with them and pride ourselves on.
We recognise our services as highly specialised, whereby our nurses are able to develop professionally within both mental and physical health. Our ward is supported by a range of allied health professionals, who support and guide our team, enhancing our nursing skills to improve the lives of our patents and ultimately promote their optimum recovery.
Suitable Applicants will:
- be a registered mental health nurse with experience of working with this patient group;
- have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- be able to problem solve and be an able negotiator;
- have the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team;
- be reliable, motivated, and flexible with the desire to work with older adults;
- be an effective team player, able to work with a wide range of professionals as well as patients and their families;
- be hard-working and able to maintain and contribute to a high standard of care;
- be able to work on a 24-hr rota basis, including nights, weekends and Bank Holidays.
