Job summary

Hello, my name is Dr Ian Watkiss and I am the Head of IDD Psychology in the Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Our team prides itself on the excellent psychological care we provide, supporting our service users that live in the Nottinghamshire Trust area, especially over the past 18 months during the pandemic.

In addition, I am personally devoted our team's health and welfare and to all our colleagues. This has again never been more essential than over the past 18 months. I can honestly say that this is the most dedicated, compassionate team I have ever worked with and I would love for you to come and work with us in these new roles and be part of developing the service to even greater heights.

I represent part of a welcoming psychology team who are part of 2,800 dedicated staff who provide vital and integral healthcare services for our patients and service users in a variety of settings, ranging from community through to acute wards, covering this vast geographical area.

We have exciting opportunities across different specialities and services, with an emphasis on career development and progression. We want to help our staff reach their full potential, and are committed to providing the support, skills and development needed to succeed.

Main duties of the job

The IDD service provides specialist care for those aged over 18 with intellectual disabilities and neurodevelopmental conditions, focusing on those whose needs cannot be met by a mainstream provision. We work to improve the mental and physical wellbeing of our service users, providing treatment and support on less complex needs, those with the most severe and complex needs and everything else in between.

Within the IDD Service, we take a professional approach to meeting individual needs and ensuring that people receive the support they require to live a fulfilling life within their local community. Assessment and treatment is delivered by our Community Learning Disability Teams across Nottinghamshire. Where there has been an increase in risk or deterioration and the mental health issues cannot be managed in the community, then assessment and treatment is delivered in our ICATT team or inpatient units.

About us

We have a huge variety of opportunities in our expansive Trust covering geographically from South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire to Leicester, providing mental health inpatient and community services, community health services, forensic mental health services and secure prison healthcare across the East Midlands.

Do you want to make a difference?

Do you believe in Trust, Honesty, Respect, Compassion and Teamwork?

Then Nottinghamshire Healthcare is the perfect place for you to start, maintain or further your career.

Join our team of nearly 9000 who are making a difference every day. We are all about our people - our staff, volunteers, carers, service users and patients. We are NottsHC.
