Job summary

The Mental Health division of Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust comprises of three directorates; Adult Mental Health, Mental Health Services for Older People and Specialist Services. More than 2,800 dedicated staff provide vital and integral healthcare services for our patients in a variety of settings, ranging from community through to acute wards, covering a vast geographical area.

These posts are subject to National NHS T&Cs, paid enhancements for unsocial hours working during nights, weekends and bank holidays and we offer a Golden Hello payment of £2,750 to new starters with the Trust in this role (payable in instalments over a 2 year period)

Main duties of the job

Thorneywood Mount Rehabilitation Unit is an open 18 bed specialist inpatient unit for adults with enduring psychosis and associated needs. We have a strong Recovery focus. We value diversity, and a diverse range of perspectives about mental health. We have a high level of expertise in treatment resistant psychosis. We pride ourselves on our work with families and carers. We have a busy therapeutic group programme as well as lots of individual working, and opportunities for our patients' personal development, learning skills, and robust support for move on.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and highly motivated staff nurse to provide high quality care within our service. The posts is full time and features combinations of shift patterns including early, late and night shifts.

You must be a RMN or equivalent and registered with the NMC. You must be able to work flexible hours on a 24hr rota including weekends and bank holidays.

Applicants must have some experience of working within the mental health setting, be flexible, hardworking and compassionate.

The post requires an individual with strong communication skills and who has the ability to work within a team. This role requires someone who can work under pressure and be adaptable.

To assess, design, implement and evaluate safe, creative and effective treatment plans in collaboration with the patients diverse needs, their carers and other professionals.

Responsible for the safe monitoring, management and administration of medication as required by Trust policy.

To maintain safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults in line with Trust policy, and Local Authority procedure and guidance, including making timely child and adult safeguarding referrals as required.

Ongoing professional nursing leadership within a multi-disciplinary team.

Compliance with best practice directions (NICE) and participation in quality and safety initiatives.

To access and provide clinical supervision to maintain competency and deliver best quality patient care.

To undertake any other duties that would be a reasonable expectation of the role.
