Job summary

We are excited to offer three band 5 posts for newly qualified Speech & Language Therapists looking to start their career working with adults who have speech, language, and communication needs associated with their neurodevelopmental diagnosis and/ or mental health problems. It is an opportunity to support people to engage in safe and enjoyable mealtimes (dysphagia). The roles will focus equally on supporting the individual's communication, eating and drinking as well as facilitating communication inclusive environments and care for all.

There are also opportunities to request to join the upcoming rotational post scheme with Nottinghamshire NHS Foundation Trust in April 2022.

The roles advertised are to work with:

Post 1: Adults with Intellectual disabilities who are inpatients on an assessment & treatment unit and a forensic ward.

Post 2: Adults with mental health problems (not intellectual disabilities) on inpatient wards.

Post 3: Adults with intellectual disabilities and autistic adults with intellectual disabilities, in the community. Post is based in North Nottinghamshire.

Each post is permanent: 37.5 hours

Main duties of the job

The roles require a high level of clinical and professional expertise in order that adults with speech, language and communication needs can benefit from a well co-ordinated pro-active, specialist, efficient and effective speech and language therapy service within the designated setting.

The service includes individual assessment, therapy and management, training, advice and liaison through a consultative approach.
