Role Purpose:This is a training role within the Children and Young People Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT). The post-holder will work within or closely alongside CAMHS as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering, under supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.Role Context:The Children and Young Peoples Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT) is a service transformation programme delivered by Health Education England and partners that aims to improve existing children and young peoples mental health Services (CYP MHS) working in the community. The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service.The post holder will attend all university based taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed national curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.
Ordinarily, you will be required to travel on a weekly basis to Reading. At present due to Covid some of the academic work is being delivered remotely, so please ensure you have access to the appropriate IT equipment. This is subject to change.
Main duties of the job
The Children and Young Peoples Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (CYP IAPT) is a service transformation programme delivered by Health Education England and partners that aims to improve existing children and young peoples mental health services (CYPMHS) working in Nottinghamshire.
There are 4 posts available, across Community CAMHS South (Hopewood), West (Lindsay Close) and North (65 Northgate, Newark).
You will be part of the CYP IAPT programme in collaboration with the University of Reading. You will work within CAMHS as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering (under supervision) high-quality, brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service.
You will be required to attend all university based taught and self-study days required by the University of Reading and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using your newly developed skills.
This is a fixed term post for one year.
Students cannot be accepted onto any training programme if they are registered with any other University.
We do not accept candidates who have previously studied for the same award at another institution.

Working PracticeAccept referrals via agreed protocols within the service.Assess and support children and young people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery.Undertake CYP centred interviews, identifying areas where the CYP wishes to see change and or recovery and making an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.Make decisions on suitability of service for new referrals, adhering to referral protocols, referring clients to alternative relevant services, stepping up or referring back to referrer as appropriateProvide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume lowintensity psychological treatments; including guided selfhelp computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media.All duties will be monitored/measured via supervision, both clinical and managerial. This will occur on a weekly basisTo ensure that the service is fully accessible by making information available and disseminating it.To develop a sound knowledge of local resources to enable good referrals to be made when necessary.Refer CYP with indications of substance misuse to specialist substance misuse and/or other services, developing knowledge of when, where and how, to refer.Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as appropriate.Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of CYP contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.Develop and review action plan re: referrals, assessments and waiting times.Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or CYP in treatment, where appropriate.Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocolsWork closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process.
