Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1.8 WTE permanent Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists to join the well established and respected Specialist Speech and Language Therapy Service in Intellectual and Developmental Disability Services within Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust. The posts will be across Intensive Community Assessment and treatment Teams (ICATT) and Community Intellectual Disability Teams in Bassetlaw, and Ashfield (Kirkby-in -Ashfield) . Full and part time positions considered for the following posts.
1 x (1.0 WTE) Specialist Speech and language therapists- Band 6 -permanent
Community Intellectual and Developmental Disability Team posts to work in Ashfield and/or Bassetlaw.
1 x (0.8 WTE) Specialist Speech and language therapists- Band 6 -permanent with the opportunity for flexible working hours.
Intensive Community Assessment and treatment Teams (ICATT)-across the North and South teams
Main duties of the job
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary community team and will provide assessment and treatment support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and a range of neurodevelopmental conditions. You will work with families and staff teams in a range of settings to enable the capacity and capabilities with regard to communication and dysphagia.
The teams offer specialist assessment and treatment support tailored to the individual, drawing flexibly on a broad range of models and types of intervention, including involvement in innovative projects and group work. The Speech and Language Therapy service work alongside multidisciplinary colleagues to promote the therapeutic interventions.

Allied Health Professionals within Nottinghamshire Health care are at the forefront of a range of multi-disciplinary, specialist services for people with complex needs, using their expertise around promoting recovery, enablement and positive risk taking, to add life to years, prevent relapse and reduce risks. The Trust is subdivided into three divisions, each supported by an Associate Director for Allied Health Professionals who collectively represent therapies across the Trust. The organisations established provision of education and training, supervision and appraisal provides positive and flexible career opportunities, including future roles for AHP Consultants, therapy leadership and other specialist posts.
As a speech and language therapist you will provide preventative information and guidance, work to empower parents, carers, other professionals and agencies to support speech, language and communication skills as well as eating and drinking.
You will provide individual assessment, individual and/or group therapy and management, training, advice and liaison through a consultative and coaching approaches, as appropriate.
You will work as part of the wider multi- disciplinary team providing a high quality, effective, accessible, person and family- centred services through tailored packages of care, training and mentoring in the most appropriate setting, including the clients home.
You must hold a relevant degree in Speech and Language Therapy and be registered with RCSLT and HCPC ( or applied for registration).
You will be well supported by senior colleagues across all of these settings, with many opportunities for peer support. The role involves close work with colleagues from a range of disciplines and the post is supported by an assistant SLT. You will enjoy close links with our team and our SLT colleagues within the East Midlands, and benefit from excellent levels of support, supervision, IT and CPD opportunities.
We also have additional opportunities for bank sessions across a variety of settings within the service. We use bank hours to flexibly enhance our service in an range of ways and are keen to hear from excellent SLTs who are interested in bank hours across all bandings.
