We have vacancies for 2 full time band 5 Speech and Language Therapists, with a view to developing to band 6 roles.

Rampton Hospital is one of three national high- secure mental healthcare facilities. The hospital provides treatment for mental health and personality disorders, and is proud to provide the National High Secure services for Women, Learning Disabilities and Deaf services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for their own individual caseload. This may include patients with mental health conditions, personality disorder, learning disability and speech, language and communication needs or dysphagia.
The post holder will assess, manage and treat patients with communication difficulties, enabling patients to access other therapeutic treatments, reduce risk and to maximise their rehabilitation.
The Speech and Language Therapy team work across the hospital, as part of the Therapies and Education Service and integrated into the care pathways. We work with patients with Dysphagia or Speech, Language and Communication Needs, providing assessment and management, working towards shared therapeutic goals collaboratively with the patient and their multidisciplinary team.

You will be responsible for the assessment, formulation and management of a clinical caseload. this will include assessment, formulation, intervention and advice. You will work closely with the patient and their MDTs to establish and work towards appropriate treatment goals.
You will work as an integrated member of MDTs to support you to advocate for patients with SLCN and/ or dysphagia and to maximise communication opportunities. You will identify training and education needs and contribute to the development and delivery of these.
You will plan for and support the work of assistants and co-workers as part of your case management.
You will participate in research and audit in accordance with departmental requirements.
You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and must be motivated to work with a broad range of staff. Motivational, counselling, conflict-resolution and empathic skills are required to engage with this client group.
This is a highly specialist environment to work in, with unique client groups, leading to lots of opportunity to think about and utilise different approaches and implement problem-solving.
