The closing date is 30 April 2026
Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Vascular Scientist/Vascular Sonographer to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold either an NHS Scientific Training Programme, Post-graduate certificate in Vascular Ultrasound or similar qualification. You will demonstrate strong knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team. A commitment to ongoing professional development and delivering high quality, patient centred care is essential.
Our vascular laboratory sits within a purpose built vascular department, offering close collaboration with a comprehensive multidisciplinary team including consultants, vascular specialist nurses, podiatrists, vascular nurse practitioners, administrative staff and healthcare assistants. The lab features two newly refurbished clinical rooms equipped with modern ultrasound systems, and its location within the vascular outpatient clinic supports efficient one stop patient pathways.
Applications are also welcomed from final year STP students or individuals training towards the SVT accreditation and may be considered on Band 7 Annex 21, with progression onto the substantive Band 7 post upon HCPC registration or SVT AVS accreditation.
Main duties of the job
The role involves undertaking a full range of complex vascular investigations, including arterial, venous, carotid, aneurysm and graft surveillance, EVAR follow up and vasospastic testing. You will produce clear, accurate reports using the Trust's electronic systems and communicate any urgent findings directly to the vascular and stroke teams. The post requires an adaptable approach to scanning techniques to meet individual patient needs, alongside active contribution to service development, audit, research and wider clinical governance. You will also play a key part in supervising and supporting junior staff and assisting with the training of new team members.
