Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician looking for an exciting opportunity? Would you like to lead, develop and deliver our medicines optimisation service at ward level?

We have a vacancy for a Band 6 Senior Pharmacy Technician who will manage, coordinate and supervise the delivery of safe and effective medicines management and medicines optimisation across the Trusts Musgrove Park Hospital site.We are a growing team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistants, working together to provide a safe, efficient and high quality service to patients and to work closely with the multidisciplinary team on the wards. We support the role development of our staff through further study and qualifications.

We also have electronic prescribing already integrated across the site as well as a newly refurbished department providing a modern and spacious working environment.

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with the Clinical Pharmacy Lead to develop the medicines optimisation service at Musgrove Park Hospital.

This role requires excellent leadership and communication skills and will involve managing and supporting staff, day to day organisation of the workload of the team, coordinating training requirements, audit and reporting, as well as ensuring that the service is constantly moving forward to meet the needs of the patients and the Trust.

It will also include medicines reconciliation, assessment of patients own drugs, discharge facilitation, dispensing and checking at ward level as well as providing education to patients and carers.

  • Extensive hospital pharmacy experience
  • Management of supervising teams and staff
  • Experience of staff appraisal and objective setting
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering high quality training to multiple staff groups such as Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants
  • Demonstrable use of clinical audit/research to improve practice
  • Experience of project management
