This is an exciting opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills and make a significant impact on the recovery and rehabilitation of those who have recently had a stroke or have new neurology.

We are a supportive team who are keen to invest in your development and support you to become a specialist in Stroke and Neurology. We can offer the role as a new or experienced band 5 with opportunities to progress to a band 6 after an individualised supportive development plan. Or starting as a Band 6 if you have sufficient relevant experience.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality, patient centred care to individuals who have experienced a stroke or other neurological conditions. This will include specialist acute assessment and treatment including group work and education and advice.

You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate therapy programs that promote independence and enhance the quality of life for our patients.

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Formal CPD in relevant clinical areas or equivalent experience and evidence

Desirable

  • Practice Placement Educator
  • BAOT Membership
  • Supervision training or relevant experience in supervision and/ or basic management.

  • Specialist knowledge and application of the Occupational Therapy assessments and intervention for patients with a neurological diagnosis.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy Outcome Measures.
  • Ability to work autonomously and set priorities for the team and service
  • Implementing a range of standardised and/or non standardised assessments to include cognitive assessments and interpretation of performance

  • Experience of delivering cognitive rehabilitation
  • Knowledge of seating and positioning, including ability to assess for postural management and positioning clients with neurological deficits.
