Are you an experienced mechanical engineering professional looking for a leadership role in a dynamic healthcare environment? Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Estates Officer (Mechanical) to join our Estates & Facilities team. This is a pivotal position ensuring our hospital buildings and engineering services are safe, compliant, and maintained to the highest standards.
You will manage a wide range of mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), steam boiler plants, and water treatment systems. Acting as an Authorised Person, you'll oversee statutory compliance, lead on critical projects, and support the delivery of a responsive, cost-effective estates service.
This role offers a Recruitment and Retention Payment of £2000 per year.
Main duties of the job
- Manage maintenance, installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical plant and equipment.
- Act as the responsible person for service-critical systems such as steam boilers and HVAC.
- Ensure compliance with legislative standards and NHS technical guidance (HTMs).
- Lead and support capital projects related to mechanical services and infrastructure.
- Provide technical expertise and assurance in design and project meetings.
- Oversee risk assessments, safety audits, and governance for mechanical systems.
- Contribute to forward investment planning and sustainability initiatives.
