Join our dedicated LADS (Liaison and Diversion Service) team as a Support, Time and Recovery (STR) Worker! This is a unique opportunity to be part of a vital NHS England programme delivered in partnership with Avon and Wiltshire Partnership, supporting individuals across the Avon and Somerset police area. You'll help make meaningful change in people's lives by ensuring timely referrals and care for those with mental health and related vulnerabilities.

This role is primarily based at Bridgwater Police Custody but will also involve rotational working in community settings. The custody environment can be demanding, but you'll be working in a highly supportive multidisciplinary team that values your growth, resilience, and professional development.

Main duties of the job

  • Complete assessments within police custody and court settings to identify mental health or other vulnerabilities.

  • Refer individuals to appropriate health, social care, and community services.

  • Encourage and support individuals to engage with services that aid recovery and reduce re-offending.

  • Liaise with families, carers, and professionals to ensure joined-up support.

  • Work collaboratively with criminal justice agencies including police, probation and courts.

  • Share relevant information (with consent) to help inform charging and sentencing decisions.

  • Be a visible, compassionate presence for individuals often experiencing crisis or trauma.
