Somerset Foundation Trust are looking for a ST1/2 LAS to join our team, covering a gap in the GPVTS training programme.
This is a non-training post and therefore not recognised for training by the Royal College of Physicians or Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

This is a full time, 40 hours per week post
This position entails a standard work schedule of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Currently, there is no on-call commitment associated with the role. However, should departmental needs arise--such as to cover rota gaps--on-call duties may be discussed either during the interview process or at a later stage. Any such arrangement would be formalized under a separate contract, as appropriate

Main duties of the job
The role of the ST1 LAS will be to provide medical input to the units to enable the efficient and effective assessment and initial management of all cases. The post holder will also support the Consultants who run these units.
The ST1 LAS doctor will have day to day responsibility for patients under the care of Consultants. A Consultant led post-take ward round will take place every day when on call.
The ST1 LAS will take part in the teaching of medical students when they are in session within the department. (Yeovil Academy) Teaching will involve predominantly supporting their learning on the wards where they will shadow the LAS during routine ward activity as well as patient discussions in the outpatient clinic setting. Excellent library facilities are available.
