Job summary
Manage the day to day working of Catering, Cleaning, Portering (where applicable) and laundry services within the hospital wards and departments (where applicable); in conjunction with the Facilities Manager and Deputy Facilities Manager, Ward Manager and Matron to ensure a safe and hygienic environment to support patient care. This is maintained by ensuring a range of cleaning, housekeeping and catering duties are carried out and will be responsible for ensuring the Facilities Team maintains the standards set out by the Trust / Department and Government Guidance.
Responsible for E-roster within facilities, and will input all staff hours, ensuring they are within the agreed budget limits.
Have the ability to prioritise and manage a challenging workload without supervision on a daily basis and cope with interruptions from staff, telephone calls, emails and contractors, many of which require immediate attention and is expected to use their own initiative, make decisions and deal with departmental, patient and contractor queries, will also be required to manage the production of safe catering for patients, staff and visitors.
Oversee any facilities contractors when onsite to ensure deliveries/collections/work is adhered too and if any fall below the contract requirements take appropriate action to ensure the issues are resolved and report any estate requests, monitor outcomes and completion of jobs and refer any non-completion of work to the Community Facilities Management Team.
Main duties of the job
Specific duties will be discussed at interview to meet service requirement.
To manage own workload, maintaining awareness, working on own initiative without direct supervision and demonstrate the flexibility required by responding to interruptions and reprioritising.
To deal efficiently and effectively with complex enquiries, this could involve leaving current work to respond immediately.
To manage the Facilities Team with the daily running of the department requirements, ensuring weekly rosters, cleaning schedules, allocating and checking of the workload is carried out.
In times of staff shortages, prioritise workload to ensure that essential tasks are completed to the correct standard.
When covering sickness absence and annual leave, significant risk or low risk areas can be covered on reduced hours.
To ensure that regular checks on all cleaning materials.
To liaise with external companies in regard to Health & Safety, COSHH, new equipment and any new regulations as determined by the Facilities Management Team or Matron/Manager.
Ensure all Facilities staff are aware of COSHH, Risk Assessments, Data Sheets and the use of Trust agreed chemicals.
Plan and undertake regular management supervisions, 1-1's and regular team meetings.
Attend any relevant local or Trust meetings as required.
To ensure periodic work carried out by contractors.
Arrange production and delivery for functions both internal and external to the Trust.
