Job summary

Rowan ward 2 is a 15 bedded acute mental health ward for working age adults. It is situated in a newly refurbished ward. The role will provide a comprehensive secretarial, administrative and support service to the Consultant, medical team and Rowan ward 2.To include daily supervision and support to lower banded administration colleagues, ensuring that high standards are maintained. To use own initiative and work without immediate supervision. The post requires flexibility and the ability to provide a wide range of administrative and typist duties.

Main duties of the job

Come join our friendly team, we need a medical secretary for our consultant on our busy acute mental health ward. Your main duties will be assisting in the organisation of the workload of the Consultant and the team, arranging and coordinating diaries and preparing relevant paperwork and reports and documenting reviews and meetings.

  • Diploma level/NVQ 3 in Business Administration or equivalent.
  • ECDL or equivalent (or equivalent/working towards).

Desirable

  • RSA Stage III or equivalent typing/word processing including audio typing.
  • Level 3 Leadership & Management or willing to work towards.
  • Supervision training

Experience

  • Experience of dealing with sensitive and distressing issues.
  • Experience of dealing with multi-disciplinary teams and external agencies.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office packages e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook.
