Job summary
We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking doctor to join Somerset NHS Foundation Trust as a Clinical Digital Leadership Fellow in General Medicine. This one-year fellowship is an innovative post, split between clinical practice and digital leadership, based primarily at Yeovil District Hospital, with occasional cross-site working at Musgrove Park Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Duties (60%):
- Work on a General Medical ward alongside supervising consultants, registrars, and junior doctors.
- Manage the day-to-day care of patients admitted to the ward.
- Participate in bedside teaching of Foundation Doctors and Medical Students.
- Develop clinical decision-making, procedural, and diagnostic skills in a supportive environment.
- Optional opportunities to participate in the medicine on-call rota.
- Maintain good working relationships with hospital staff and participate in occasional emergency duties.
Digital Leadership Responsibilities (40%):
- Support the delivery of digital transformation projects within Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.
- Contribute to the implementation and optimisation of a new trust-wide electronic health record.
- Work directly with the CCIO and ACCIOs to identify clinical barriers and opportunities for digital adoption.
- Lead and coordinate a team of junior doctors to support front-line digital initiatives and user testing.
- Engage with clinical colleagues, education teams, and stakeholders to support digital training and user engagement.
- Develop influencing, leadership, and project management skills within a dynamic clinical digital environment.
- Opportunity to present digital transformation work at conferences and submit for publication or poster presentation.
