Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager to join our team on Exmoor Ward, covering maternity leave. Exmoor is a general medical ward, caring for patients with a variety of medical conditions.
In this role, you will support the Ward Manager with the day-to-day operational management of the ward. You will be responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of services, maintaining the appropriate skill mix within the team, and ensuring high standards of care. Additionally, you will be required to step up in the absence of the Ward Manager, ensuring continuity of leadership and smooth ward operations.

Main duties of the job
As Deputy Ward Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the ward. Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out appraisals to assess team performance and development needs.
- Undertaking regular audits to ensure high standards of care and compliance with policies.
- Ensuring all staff remain up-to-date with mandatory training requirements.
- Addressing any HR-related concerns and facilitating Occupational Health referrals when needed.
- Managing rostering queries and ensuring staffing levels are optimal.
- Leading the team in the absence of the Ward Manager, providing direction and maintaining operational effectiveness.
Your leadership and organizational skills will be vital in ensuring that the ward continues to deliver excellent patient care while fostering a positive and efficient working environment for the team.
