Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is looking for two passionate and driven Consultant Neurologists to join our growing department. This is an exciting opportunity to work independently as a general neurologist while developing a subspecialist service tailored to your expertise.
We welcome applicants from all neurology subspecialties, with a particular interest in epilepsy being highly desirable. You'll play a vital role in enhancing patient care, collaborating with a diverse multidisciplinary team, and contributing to our mission of delivering outstanding neurology services across the county.

Main duties of the job
As a Consultant Neurologist, you will:
- Deliver high-quality general neurology services across Somerset
- Develop and lead a subspecialty service in your area of expertise
- Provide outpatient care across multiple hospital sites
- Take part in inpatient neurology care at Musgrove Park Hospital, including ward referrals
- Work closely with a diverse MDT to deliver seamless patient care
- Engage in teaching, research, and clinical trials supported by the Clinical Research Network
- Participate in the duty neurologist rota, which ensures a dedicated inpatient focus with no outpatient clinics scheduled during duty weeks

You'll be working alongside:
6 substantive consultants
Expanding registrar team (increasing to 2 from August)
Specialist MDT including headache practitioners, epilepsy nurse specialists, MS nurse specialists, neuro-pharmacist, consultant physiotherapist, and clinical psychologists
Neurosurgery & interventional neuroradiology at Southmead Hospital, Bristol
Virtual neuroradiology MDT & weekly neurology academic meetings
You'll have full secretarial, IT, and office support, with dedicated on-site office space (potentially shared with another consultant).

- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- CCT in Neurology (or within six months of completion at the time of interview)
Desirable
- Subspecialty expertise (epilepsy preferred), experience in teaching & research.
