Job summary
- To provide a specialist occupational therapy service and early intervention for Trauma and Orthopaedic patients.
- To provide a specialist assessment and treatment service for patients with life changing orthopaedic conditions by working in close collaboration with the Orthopaedic team to provide the best outcome for patients.
- To support with the development of the Orthopaedic elective service, with Physiotherapy team and wider Orthopaedic MDT.
- To provide a specialist, occupation focussed assessment and treatment service for patients within the acute hospital.
- To act as a specialist resource for the Orthopaedic team, the medical team, other clinicians, and colleagues within the Trust.
- To be responsible for managing a complex caseload of patients with a variety of diagnoses and pathologies including post surgical, general medical, respiratory, neurological and cardiac.
- To assist in the development of the service and develop and review clinical protocols for specialised clinical area.
- To be responsible for own workload as an autonomous practitioner, ensuring that patients are seen according to clinical need
- Oversee the caseload delegated to other staff within the specialty, providing supervision in the form of formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case studies as necessary
