We are looking for ST4 LAS doctor to join the Paediatric Team at Somerset Foundation Trust - Yeovil Site
This is a full time (40 hours), 12 months, fixed term post.
Initially taking part in a 1:7 middle grade rota, with full shift, on call commitment and prospective cover, however this will be changing to a 1:8 rota in due course
The post is to cover a gap in the training programme, however is a non- training post and therefore will not be recognised by the RCOCH
The role of the post will be to provide medical input to the Paediatric Unit to enable the efficient and effective assessment and initial management of all cases.
Main duties of the job
The ST4 LAS Doctor will have day to day responsibility for patients under the care of Consultants
A Consultant led post-take ward round will take place after each take-in day and one full medical ward round per week. The department of medicine has recently introduced a ward based system for both junior doctors and consultants.
The ST4 LAS will take part in the teaching of junior medical staff and medical students (Yeovil Academy), co-ordinating this activity carefully with the Consultants. The comprehensive teaching programme includes journal reviews, topic teaching and X-ray tutorials. MRCP teaching routes are held regularly.

To contribute to the active journal club. There are 'bleep-free' obligatory sessions for teaching and these are part of the weekly timetable.

To perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant in conjunction, where practicable, with their colleagues both senior and junior.
To attend other hospitals within the Trust if so requested by the supervising Consultant.
