Are you a dedicated and experienced Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RN) who keeps patient wellbeing at the heart of everything you do?

We are seeking a Learning Disability Liaison nurse (Band 6) to join our dynamic team and play a vital role in facilitating accessibility to healthcare for patients with learning disabilities in our acute setting.

We have full time or part time hours available, and options at both Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil District Hospital

You will require good communication skills and strong team working skills.

Main duties of the job

As a Learning Disability Liaison nurse, you will be responsible for supporting patients with learning disabilities, their families and carers as they access the hospital, alongside giving advice and guidance to acute staff around issues relating to healthcare for people with learning disabilities. This is a pivotal role which involves liaising with members of the multidisciplinary team, managing a caseload effectively, and making quick decisions to clinically prioritise your work.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct support to people with learning disabilities when they access the hospital.

Address a wide-range of holistic issues which arise for individual patients with learning disabilities.

Support acute staff to deliver high-quality care to people with learning disabilities, highlighting where needed the requirement to comply with the Mental Capacity Act and the Equality Act.

Play a part in educating, informing and supporting acute staff around issues relating to care for people with learning disabilities.

Assist the Team Lead in developing a Shared Vision for the service

Work within a team, prioritising work among clinicians as required and escalating concerns as required
