Job summary

We are seeking to recruit two medical secretaries who have a passion for high quality customer care to work within the Maxillofacial/Orthodontic/Restorative Dentistry Department. These are both full time roles.

You will provide comprehensive secretarial support to the current admin team, consultants, associate specialists and other allied health professionals. We are looking for someone who can use their own initiative, work well with other people, be able to work on their own as well as being able to approach others for support. The right candidate will have excellent IT and typing skills.

Main duties of the job

Communicate with patients, colleagues, internal and externalDeal with day to day correspondence,Receive telephone calls, accepting messages on behalf of members of the specialty team, taking appropriate action where necessaryPrioritise own work efficiently and effectively, highlighting any issues to the Band 4Type all forms of clinical correspondence as dictated by medical staff, by use of audio or copy typing.

  • Good standard of general educationRSA/OCR 3 WP/Typing or equivalentAMSPAR or British Medical Secretary Diploma (includes medical terminology)

Desirable

  • ECDL or equivalent

Experience

  • Audio typing / word processing

  • Previous NHS administration experience (2 years minimum)
  • Medical audio typing

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Evidence of a good standard of literacy / English language skills
  • Good communication skills on the telephone, via e-mail, face to face and in written correspondence
