Job summary
Applications are invited for two Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeons at Yeovil District Hospital with subspecialist training in hip and/or knee surgery.
The successful applicants will join a team of Consultants and Associate Specialists in providing a comprehensive elective Orthopaedic and Trauma service to the population of Somerset. The Department has a major commitment to training, supervising a team of SPRs, CT1/2s, Foundation Year 2 Doctors, as well as teaching of Medical Students from Bristol and Plymouth.
Start dates can be flexible depending on the availability of the candidate and the needs of the department.
Main duties of the job
The post holders will be expected to provide full elective and trauma surgery services using both day surgery and in-patient operating lists. The applicants should be fellowship trained and subspecialise in hip and/or knee surgery. The successful candidates will be expected to work closely with the existing orthopaedic team and have appropriate recent general orthopaedic trauma experience.
Post 1: Must include soft tissue knee surgery (including competency in primary ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair and patellar stabilisation surgery) as well as other areas of interest that can be tailored to suit the candidate.
Post 2: Must include ability to manage periprosthetic fracture, complex hip trauma and revision hip surgery. Competency in hip arthroscopy would also be welcomed. Other areas of interest can be tailored to suit the candidate
