Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the surgical service care group for a fulltime 8B service manager in ophthalmology including the diabetic screening service.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering against the national RTT targets while delivering a high quality care for the residents of Somerset that require this service.
There is an expectation to travel across county so that this role is highly visible to the teams in all sites.
There is consideration of a development package for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The post holds a lead role for the countywide operational and budgetary management and strategic planning of the service areas.
This post is the senior responsible individual for overall assurance that all services are focussed on ensuring the most effective and efficient use of resources to deliver a high quality service that achieves the required performance targets in line with the Trust's core values.
The post holder will be expected to provide clear leadership and direction on
improvement of patient services, working with the multi-disciplinary team. They will
also be expected to ensure that the services provided are responsive to patient needs,
that planning of services, involving patients and users, and reflect the diverse
population served.
The post holder will be expected to provide senior leadership and people management, to recruit and retain high quality staff, provide effective appraisal and statutory training and promote team working and strong staff involvement in decision making within the sphere of their responsibilities. This will include long term workforce planning and development.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that income and expenditure targets
are met for allocated services while balancing the delivery of services.
The post holder may also take a lead role across the group for a number of areas as delegated by the Director and Deputy Director for group.
