System Support Specialist

Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated System Support Specialist to join our Systems Support team. In this role, you'll be part of a dynamic team supporting the operational needs of the trust by providing 2nd line system administration and back-office support for various clinical and non-clinical IT systems.

Main duties of the job

  • Act as the system lead for designated systems, collaborating with end users to optimize system configuration.
  • Handle system-related enquiries and issues through the Service Desk, adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Configure systems according to project requirements and change requests.
  • Provide expert support and advice to clinical and operational teams.
  • Ensure system data quality and compliance with national and local standards.
  • Lead and manage System Support Analysts.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.

Essential

  • Educated to HND Computing, or A level or equivalent gained through specific relevant experience
  • Evidence of own continuing professional development
  • GCSE C grade or equivalent in English and Maths

Desirable

  • ITIL Foundation
  • ECDL or NHS Elite

Experience

  • Specialist knowledge of clinical and non-clinical systems and processes
  • Good working knowledge of computer operating systems and software applications including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of NHS business and clinical processes
  • Understanding of NHS Policies and Strategies, including Data Protection and Security

  • Experience of working in the NHS
