Job summary

The Somerset Dermatology Service is looking for two Band 6/7 (Dependent on Experience in Dermatology) for our newly expanding service for the children of Somerset. You will either be based on the East or West side of the county and will be willing to travel.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is required to lead in running and developing a specialist nurse service in line with Dermatology and associated best practice. They will support providing a Dermatology service for children, young people, their families and carers primarily within Somerset Foundation NHS Trust geographical catchment areas as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. The individual will use specialist knowledge and expertise in making decisions regarding the most effective and appropriate care of children with Dermatological conditions such as Eczema etc. both autonomously and in collaboration with medical staff. They will provide effective clinical care and leadership on a daily basis for this defined case load of children, to reduce the likelihood of the child needing to be admitted to hospital. The individual will work within the system of a multidisciplinary approach to patient centred care delivery, which builds on the philosophy of greater involvement of patients and their relatives or carers by using the Trust Patient and public involvement strategy. The individual will liaise with other professionals to ensure that planned care is coordinated, effective and efficient. Promote the wider national aims of public health education.
