Job summary
The post holder should be self-motivated and driven individual, who has a passion for maintenance. A committed team player who can provide a high quality and dedicated service, improving the delivery of maintenance of properties at the acute site.
The role will involve undertaking unsupervised (once trained), planned preventative maintenance routines and reactive maintenance works as instructed management that does not justify the attention of a fully qualified maintenance staff.
Main duties of the job
*Works in cooperation with the Estates Maintenance Manager to ensure that all areas are maintained and cleaned in accordance with Trust procedures.
*The post holder will provide and receive routine information relating to the tasks being completed and ensure that colleagues, other staff, patients, visitors including external contractors are adequately communicated to minimise risk.
*The post-holder will have occasional contact with Trust staff, patients, visitors, and external contractors.
About us
To perform routine planned preventative maintenance work requiring basic skills (including labouring) as needed. This will include co-operating and assist with multi-skilled maintenance staff to complete tasks safely and in a timely manner.
To understand and adhere to the Trust Health and Safety Policies e.g., Fire Safety Policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
To undertake training required to undertake planned preventative maintenance programmes (PPM) this may include:
Emergency light testing
Water safety/mechanical tasks
Minor door repairs/replacements such as handles, locks, signs etc.
The role will involve following planned and reactive task requests this will involve the use of a PDA device.
To assist in snow clearance and gritting as and when required. This includes topping up salt bins.
To clear waste blockages throughout trust bathrooms and assist in the maintenance/clearing of main drain and soil systems with minimal supervision.
To maintain plant rooms, boiler rooms and workshops to ensure good condition (sweeping, disposal of rubbish and removal of redundant equipment)
To undertake utility meter readings (after training) on all utilities
Minor reactive electrical and mechanical duties e.g., change tap washer, toilet siphon replacement and changing fuses in white goods plugs etc.
Replace lamps, (not involving disconnection of electrical circuits) and replacing electrical fuses and to dispose of "spent" lamps in a safe, controlled environment.
