Job summary

The pregnancy loss Co-ordinator will provide sensitive and specialist care and support to families who have experienced the death of their baby through stillbirth, miscarriage, termination of pregnancy for medical reasons or neonatal death. They will work with the specialist bereavement teams within maternity and gynae by carrying out agreed administrative tasks to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the departments.

This post-holder will provide continuity of care, ensure necessary pathways are followed in line with national bereavement care pathway and human tissue authority requirements.

It is anticipated that the post-holder will communicate with Trust staff/bereaved parents/visitors and representatives of various organisations (both secular and religious) by telephone and email. The post therefore requires a high degree of curtesy, compassion, discretion and a working knowledge of NHS policies on confidentiality and information governance.

Main duties of the job

To act as the link for both healthcare professionals and parents alike for baby loss within the organisation.

To develop processes and procedures to ensure all baby loss products are dealt with in a kind and timely fashion; ensuring the wishes of parents are at the forefront.

To deal with personal professionally, sympathetically, and effectively, telephone and email enquiries from the public, funeral directors, and other professional bodies to ensure the smooth operation of the service.

To establish excellent working relationships with a professional involved in the process

Essential

  • Minimum of 5 GSCEs grade 4 or above including English Language
  • Vocational, NVQ, Level 3 qualification or equivalent level of experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite, in particular Excel
  • Good IT skills, experience with building databases, spreadsheets and report writing.

  • Proven experience of working in an office environment and knowledge of office systems.
  • Previous experience of dealing with sensitive situations
