Job summary
This role is based within the Oncology and Haematology Service based at St Margarets Hospice, Little Tarrat Lane, Yeovil, BA20 2HU.
The role will be required to provide efficient and effective booking and scheduling service to ensure treatments and clinic appointments are booked effectively and efficiently.
Training will be provided to the successful candidate. Parking is available.
The working hours are Monday-Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm. These can be flexible for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
The booking officers/scheduler are responsible for the booking of outpatient appointments and scheduling of treatments within the Day Unit on a daily basis.
This role will:
- Ensure each patients individual needs are met and appropriate support is in place eg. Interpreter.
- Manage internal and external phone calls in a professional and helpful manner.
- Cancel patient appointments as requested ensuring they are re-scheduled and both the patient and clinic cancellations/changes are recorded accurately.
- Communicate any delays and other significant information to patients in a timely, friendly and compassionate manner.
- Work flexibly as part of the Oncology and Haematology Team maintaining systems and processes relating to outpatient appointments using TrakCare, Mosaiq, Maxims, EPRO and NHS Spine.
- Identify potential issues, resolving where possible and escalating to the Oncology and Haematology management team.
- Participate in team and Trust meetings as requested.
