Job summary
The post will provide a broad range of exposure to the care of haematology patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. It is ideally suited for someone considering a career in haematology.
The department currently includes 7 haematology consultants, 2 specialist registrars, 2 specialty doctors and 6 disease specific haematology specialist nurses
Main duties of the job
The post holder will split their time equally between the specialist haematology inpatient ward and attending/providing outpatient clinical care. The haematology ward is a 12-bedded unit where standard intensive and novel treatments are administered to patients with haematological malignancies including AML, ALL, High Grade Lymphoma, Myeloma and aplastic anaemia. Outpatient care is organised in disease specific clinics and the successful candidate can attend a range of clinics according to their interest.

The clinical Fellow will be expected to undertake the following duties:
- Clerk and post take administration; writing in patients notes.
- Undertake patient reviews/assessments
- Write up drug prescriptions
- Complete discharge administration
- Promptly update patient systems
- Attend clinics
- Attend Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings
- Triage to medical teams/acute physicians as appropriate
- Trouble shoot patients on the ward
- Participate in ward rounds
- If desired, can undertake procedures training in bone marrow biopsy, and get some laboratory experience
