Job summary

Would you like the opportunity to join an established and respected team which is already making a difference to Children and Young People in Somerset?

Our CAMHS Enhanced Outreach Team in Somerset would like to welcome a Child and Family Support Worker to join our experienced team, supporting Young People in crisis.

This role will suit someone who understands the challenges and risks when working with children and young people with mental health issues.

You'll be assessing, treating and evaluating intensive treatment provided to clients referred to the team. You'll provide education, advice, and practical support to young people and their families as well as brief therapeutic interventions.

If you enjoy a challenge and want to contribute to making a difference to young people, we want to hear from you.

This is a county-wide post but your base is negotiable depending on your location.

Main duties of the job

You'll have the support of the team around you, including qualified professionals and fellow support workers, as we work together to support children and young people in crisis. The team supports young people with complex mental health presentations in the community, to prevent hospital admissions, and on the rare occasion admission is necessary we also support young people to return home to their families.

It is a great time to join this team of dedicated professionals with a wealth of experience from various backgrounds and there is plenty of opportunity to learn and develop. The CAMH service is constantly evolving and we can provide you with staff development, training, regular supervision and a positive team environment.

About us

As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, pension contributions, market leading annual leave allowance, continuing professional development and regular informal conversations around career progression, annual recognition awards to celebrate and recognise our colleagues achievements throughout the year and not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.

We work hard to make sure that inclusion is part of everything we do. We know that true inclusion means we're able to provide the best care for our patients and provide a fulfilling career for all our colleagues.

The benefits of working in Somerset include the idyllic countryside, with our areas of outstanding beauty and stunning coastlines. You will get to enjoy these perks whilst still only being a stone's throw away from bustling city centres like Bristol, Bath and Exeter and only two hours away from London - there is truly something for everyone!

There are excellent educational facilities in the area and, when compared to other regions, house prices are reasonable.

We have six active and impactful colleague networks. These networks provide a safe space for colleagues to share their experiences and learn from one another, but also influence change across our trust:

  • Multicultural Network
  • Women's Network
  • Armed Forces' Network
  • LGBTQ+ Network
  • Lived Experience Network, for colleagues living with disabilities
  • Autistic Colleague Network
