Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for healthcare to join the Ophthalmology department as an Ophthalmic Technician, applications are invited from people with NVQ 3 or equivalent.

Experience is not essential but to be successful you must have a caring nature, enjoy interacting with people, be competent with technology and thrive working in a busy fast paced environment.

In house training will be provided.

Ophthalmic outpatients currently work Monday to Friday, with a potential for future Saturday working.

Following training you may be required to work in one of our community diagnostic hubs.

Main duties of the job

As an Ophthalmic Technician you will work alongside medical, nursing and allied health professionals to providing essential diagnostic support services and diagnostic investigations, you will be using a wide range of technology:-

Provide support for patients and carers

Visual Fields tests,

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT scans)

Assist in pre assessment clinic

Undertake automated perimetry and visual acuity assessment

Contribute to the safe, efficient and smooth running of clinics.

You will need to be an effective communicator with a professional attitude, and perform tasks with attention to detail.
