Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative member to join our team here in the post anaesthetic care unit. You will have the opportunity to work across three different specialities which are general, orthopaedic and head and neck theatres.
If successful you will undertake an induction programme including competencies in airway management, invasive lines, medical devices and enhanced care. The post includes providing care to paediatrics post anaesthetic and MRI.
You will be a registered practitioner with an interest in recovery and acute care with a willingness to learn and develop.

Main duties of the job
- Plan, Implement and Evaluate programmes of Post-Operative Care for patients undergoing all forms of surgical intervention and anaesthesia.
- Use the systems in place in the unit for a multi-disciplinary approach to patient centred care delivery. Delivers patient care on a daily basis
- Experienced Band 5 post holders will also provide effective clinical and managerial leadership of PACU, in the absence of the team leader and Clinical Manager.
- External and Internal contacts: Daily contact with patients, relatives and carers, multi-disciplinary team, Matrons, A.D.N, support service staff. Attendance at regular unit/team meetings.
- Communicate with patients, relatives and staff in an empathetic way, both face to face or by telephone giving reassurance and developing cooperation in achieving good outcomes on a frequent daily basis.
- Communicate with patients, relatives and carers sensitive clinical information in a way that takes into account the level of understanding and any barriers that may have an impact on the individual receiving and understanding the information, face toface and via the telephone on a frequent daily basis.
