Job summary

The post holder will need to work closely with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure the effective management and delivery of cleaning and decontamination services at Musgrove Park Hospital.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for cleaning and/or decontamination services provided by the Soft FM team to comply with the National Cleanliness of Healthcare Establishments Plan 2021.

Be accountable for the Cleaning Budget Cost Centre of £7.8 Million per annum (£7.3 Million pays costs and £0.5 Million of non-pay costs).

Oversee (including supplier), cleaning and/or decontamination management systems and services and work with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure that they provide. or are enabled to provide. continuous Legal, Regulatory, or other relevant cleaning and/or decontamination management compliance.

Advise the Trust of any changes to cleaning and/or decontamination, environmental and other relevant legislation, Regulations, or best practice, as they relate to Trust cleaning and/or decontamination management services.

Work with other colleagues to maximise income generation opportunities.

Ensure that effective waste segregation and recycling opportunities are available for relevant waste streams.

Use or create and make readily available, training, and other topic educational tools and information. Deliver training to relevant stakeholders.

Be responsible for a team of approximately 232 WTE's comprising 203 Band 2 WTE's, 24 Band 3 WTE's & 4 Band 4 WTE employees.

Work closely with the Head of Sustainability to ensure cleaning and/or decontamination management services support the Trust's sustainability goals and ambitions.

Person Specification /Qualifications/Knowledge & Skills

Essential

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant topic (Cleaning and/or decontamination Management, Environmental Management etc.) or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study and/or employment experience.
  • Understanding of principles, methods, techniques, and tools for effective cleaning and/or decontamination service delivery and quality improvement.
  • Detailed understanding of Healthcare Cleaning and/or decontamination management.
  • Good budgetary control and management experience and skills.
  • Has worked at a management or senior supervisory level within the Health Care Sector or other complex organisation.
  • The post holder will require tact, motivational and, persuasive skills where there may be barriers to understanding or dealing with anxious colleagues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to remain calm and professional when faced with challenging or distressing situations and to direct accordingly.
  • Holds a full. UK compliant. driving licence.

Desirable

  • Has been involved in business planning and in the development and effective implementation of operational plans, together with skill mix reviews.
  • Has undertaken risk and health & safety assessments and management of large, disparate work teams.
  • Good working knowledge of financial software system(s).
