Job summary
CAMHS Support Worker (Band 4)
Due to new investment, we are expanding our community teams for children and young people with mental health difficulties in Somerset.
Our established CAMHS East and CAMHS West Teams offer assessment and treatment to young people with mental health needs across the county and work from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the CAMHS West community team and work closely alongside keyworkers (Social Workers, Nurses and Occupational Therapists), young people and families to make a real difference to their care and outcomes.
The role would suit applicants who have experience working within education, social care or mental health.
In return, successful candidates will have access to regular supervision, training and workshops run within Somerset CAMHS services.
The post will be based in Foundation House and covering the West of Somerset
Main duties of the job
The postholder will work under supervision and direction of designated qualified staff and will be expected to work autonomously in a wide range of clinical and community settings. The postholder will support qualified staff with joint visits, organisation of and attendance at meetings, case reviews, chronologies, assessments and related recording tasks and making referrals to external agencies as examples of key tasks on a shared caseload.
The postholder will also be providing practical support and therapeutic interventions under the guidance of qualified members of the team to children and young people with complex mental health needs and their families, especially within the first 6 weeks of interventions within CAMHS services.
The postholder will provide support to parents/carers of children and young people with complex mental health problems in liaison with keyworkers, other Trust staff and relevant external agencies
The postholder will be working as part of the CAMHS multi-disciplinary team, and his/her assessments/interventions will be part of the overall care plan for the child/family.
