Job summary
We are currently recruiting to the Facilities Housekeeper role to join our friendly team at Minehead Community Hospital.
Minehead Community Hospital has a busy inpatient unit, a Minor Injuries Unit, Outpatients Department, Physiotherapy Department, X-ray, Day Surgery Theatre as well as several other clinical areas and offices.
The current vacancy is for 30 hours per week which will include weekend working. Shifts may vary to suit the needs of the service which may change. The current service runs between the hours of 07.00 - 19.00 and the shift pattern will reflect this.
Please note you may be asked to cover another site on occasion.
To work under the Facilities Team Leader and deputise for day-to-day operational issues in their absence. To promote good teamwork and flexibility within the department.
The hourly rate is currently - Band 3: £11.67-£12.45 per hour.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role will be working closely with Facilities, Nursing and Estates teams and where applicable some Heads of Departments.
The post holder will work under direction of the Facilities Team Leader.
To undertake all mandatory training as required within the role, to support the Facilities Team to complete training such as Safe use of Equipment, Infection Control, Moving and Handling & Food Hygiene.
To support the Facilities Team Leader with the Trust recruitment and induction process within the department.
Be responsible for monitoring quality, standards and compliance while working in line with Trust Polices, Procedures and National Cleaning Standards Guidance.
Ensure a safe, effective and compliant cleaning services is delivered, with the support of the Facilities Team Leader.
Exercise effective leadership in managing the performance of the Facilities Team.

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders: Patients, Visitors, Facilities Team Leader, Facilities Team, Facilities Team, Estates Team, Hospital Matron, Ward Team, Infection Control Team, Departmental Teams, Contractors, Suppliers and Government Bodies.
To support the Facilities Team Leader to undertake the following:
- Communicate changes to the team and support them through change
- Meet regularly with team to complete 1:1 meetings and appraisals
- Plan daily work schedule for self and team adapting to the needs of the service when changes occur
- Work with Facilities Team Leader to prepare staff rotas, authorise annual leave and ensure all shifts are adequately covered
- Ensure Trust documentation is completed in line with policies and procedures
- To undertake hands on cleaning as part of the role
- Complete patient menus on a daily basis
- Liaise with ward, Speech and Language, and catering teams to ensure patients individual dietary needs are met
- Ensure adequate cleaning supplies, linen and equipment is availabl
- Be responsible for reporting any defects or incidents that occur
- Have good knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety in the workplace
- Placing of orders and checking of deliveries
- Identify opportunities to work more sustainably and reduce waste
- Provide local induction to staff and annual refresher training in work processes and procedures
