Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Band 6 Audiologist to join our very friendly and hardworking team of Audiologists, Associate Audiologists, Audiology Assistants and admin staff.

This is an extremely exciting time for Audiology, having been involved in the planning of the newly established Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Yeovil, East Somerset. we have been able to ensure the best equipment and facilities are available to meet the needs of our patients. With one Audiology Service working across the county of Somerset you will have access to both routine and specialist clinics including direct tinnitus pathways, direct MRI listing, BAHA assessment and fitting, Learning disability, vestibular and MDT clinics with ENT.

We strive to deliver excellent patient care and a vast array of Audiological services, in order to do so we are passionate about internal progression, training and opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. We have had recent internal progression for staff who have moved into specialist band 6 posts and 2 in-service staff members undertaking the Audiology STP program. In addition to the STP program we have also offered a range of apprenticeship options within the team from level 2 to level 6. We are keen to hear from anyone wishing to consider their full career pathway from Band 5 and upwards.

Main duties of the job

The department offers a full range of Audiological services including;Diagnostic support to the ENT department

Direct Referrals for Adults and Paediatrics

Domiciliary service

Direct tinnitus pathway

Direct unilateral/asymmetrical hearing loss pathway with MRI requesting

Hearing therapy and Tinnitus management

Vestibular assessments

Adults with Learning Difficulties clinic

BAHA service

We also run peripheral clinics across the county.The department offers good opportunities for career progression. We are looking for applicants who have an interest in adult audiology and there will be opportunities to choose specialist areas as part of a development program.What we're looking for;- Applicants must have a BSc in Audiology or equivalent Audiology qualifications with proven experience in a range of Audiological procedures.- Applications are welcome from both newly qualified graduates and experienced Band 5 Audiologists- Consideration will be given for part time opportunities and flexible working arrangements.

- You must be registered or in the process of registering with RCCP and BAA.- The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate an excellent level of communication.

  • Advanced underpinning knowledge of auditory anatomy, physiology, pathology, treatment and rehabilitation.
  • Wide knowledge of hearing aids and hearing aid software.
  • Knowledge of local and national DoH and NHS structures and procedures
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience working with Adults in an Audiology Department
  • Supervisory and training experience of student audiologists and associated personnel
  • Ability to perform all basic and some advanced audiological techniques in paediatric assessment.
  • Knowledge and performance using MCHAS guidelines.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working with people with additional needs.
