Job summary
Minehead Hospital currently has a 18 hr vacancy for a Facilities Service Assistant (Generic Worker) to join our friendly team which consists of portering, catering and cleaning staff.
The working shift will vary between 07.00am-19:00h but these hours may change on occasion to fit the needs of the service and will include working on public holidays & weekends as needed.
Please note you may be asked to cover another site on occasion.
Minehead Hospital has an inpatient ward, outpatient and therapy departments, day surgery, Minor Injury Unit as well as offices and other clinical areas.
You will work as part of a team and help in the day-to-day duties that are required within the hospital - working to a high standard as a team player with a flexible approach to your work.
You will ensure that Health & Safety requirements are always met following Trust policies and procedures.
Full Training will be given for all roles.

Main duties of the job
You will work closely with the Facilities Team Leader & Housekeeper, other housekeeping & catering staff, and where applicable some Heads of Departments.
The post holder will be directed by the Facilities Team Leader to carry out a range of duties following a planned and methodical approach to ensure all areas are included to meet the needs of the service.
Examples of areas cleaned are: toilets & bathrooms; patient rooms & ward areas; patient day rooms; day surgery; outpatient departments; MIU; offices & meeting rooms as well as external areas including the immediate external vicinity of entrances, kitchens and sanitary areas.
The post holder will be required to:
- Undertake fault finding on equipment used and adapt to change in cleaning schedules.
- Participate in training as directed by the Facilities Team Leader - including cleaning techniques and mandatory training eg. Fire Safety, Moving & Handing, COSHH and Infection Control.
- Work alongside and support Apprentices/Work Experience with their daily duties using a buddy system, ensuring that they fully understand all Health and Safety aspects of the role, Trust policies and procedures.
- Other specific duties will be discussed at interview to meet service requirements.
